Back to Work....Again

In the past 4 years, I have been on maternity leave 3 times and I have taken the full 12 weeks with the first 2 and with the 3rd, we decided I needed to go back to work after 11 weeks. I actually needed to go back much sooner this so I can't complain too much because I squeezed an extra few weeks in without my husband noticing. In the 11 weeks, a lot has happened. We had a baby, we bought a house and moved, we got new vehicles, and even had a trip to the ER and a 2 night hospital stay - a lot happened in the past 11 weeks.

So this was my first week back to work and I have to admit, I was not dreading going back as past leaves. When I went back to work after having Addison and Jack, I cried at least once because I missed them so much. This time, I thought I was more ready. Or I thought so...

Work did not go as planned. I assumed this being my first shift back, I would have a nice easy assignment and even have a baby I could snuggle with. I should have mentally prepared myself as working in the NICU, you can have some really rewarding nights and you can have some hard nights. And then you can some really hard nights and I walked right into one of those really hard nights that lasted for two. I survived but I think that I should have taken 12 weeks off!
