lost identity

My dad always joked around with me that after you have kids, you lose your identity. That I would no longer be known as "Sarah" but "Addy and Jackson's Mommy." And when I come home to visit, it would no longer be "I can't wait for Sarah and JD to get here" but "When are Sarah and JD going to get here with the kids?" Just a joke right? Monday, after getting my NEW Chevy Traverse for Mommy Madness, I stopped by to see my hubby at work (to brag of course) and I for once in a very LONG time, had no children with me. I walked into his office building like I have many times before but without my children and this is what happened - No joke!

----------------

Secretary looks up from behind her desk (I think it had been about a week since my hubby and I had run into her while we were out and about but of course with our children)

Me: Hi, how are you? (starting to walk past her desk)

Secretary: Hi (looks at me curiously)

Me: I just stopped in to see JD real quick (stopping to talk to the now confused secretary)

Secretary: Umm...are you his wife?

Me: Yeah

Secretary: Oh! You look different.... (probably looks more embarrassed by this point).

Me: I don't have my kids with me today! (translation: I am showered, my hair is done, my teeth are brushed, and I dont have spit up or Addy's fingerprints on my shirt!)

Secretary: Oh, I didnt even recognize you without your kids! You look really different without your kids!

-----

I am officially identified by my kids!

  1. Well, that's a bummer, but on the bright side, I bet that secretary felt really bad for not recognizing you!

Also - that picture of Addison on your sidebar is SOOOO adorable!
