Jackson's Miracle Blanket

Jackson was sleeping wonderfully from pretty much the time he was born. I even had to wake him up at night to feed him but once he hit his 12 lb mark, I started letting him sleep for as long as he could at night. Sometimes he would sleep 4-6 hours and finally made it to 7 hours a little before his 2 month mark...but then immunizations happened! And everything changed. He went back to only sleeping 3-4 hours during the night. I was bummed of course so I started swaddling him tighter but Houdini escaped from everything I swaddled him in so I looked into other ideas from other mothers.

I hate swaddling babies with their arms down - even at work I swaddle babies with their arms up so their hands have access to their mouths, but I was willing to swaddle Jackson anyway to keep him from startling himself so he could sleep longer so I invested my money into a "miracle blanket" at http://www.miracleblanket.com/. Jackson is too big to be swaddled in a regular blanket and he has escaped from every swaddle. I was so excited when I got it in the mail last week. It is just like a straight jacket for babies - and Jackson cannot get out! Jackson was not a fan at first either but once he was tired and ready for bed, he could have cared less.

I was even more excited when I saw the results. The first few nights, Jackson slept around 6 hours, but last night, he slept for 9 hours! So from 10 to 7 this morning, I got the best night sleep ever! I am now a fan of the miracle blanket and highly recommend swaddling babies with their arms down!

  1. He looks so cute! I'm glad you have at least one child sleeping through the night.

  2. Did you get this miracle blanket idea from MckMama? She is a huge fan of it and the company even gave her two blankets because so many people from her blog got one! Glad he likes it. He is getting so big. I can't believe I have never seen him!

  3. i loved reading this post....was laughing out loud cuz i know exactly what you are going through!! i wish i could have told you to get one of the swaddle wraps earlier! we tried the hospital blanket swaddling for a few nights, but we too have a Houdini on our hands and she would get out of everything! even managed to get her arm out of her sleeper one night and up through the neck hole. no joke. but glad to hear the velcro wrap is working for you guys too!! :) and i thought it was just because we couldn't swaddle her like the nurses at the hospital, but if even a nurse's kid can get out then i don't feel as bad. haha! we've got a cream one and green one and they are lifesavers....she still manages to get her hands up by her face every now and then, but the little peanut can't do much escaping with that velcro straight jacket!

once again, Jackson is just the cutest thing, hope all is well!! :)

  5. It looks the same as a swaddle blanket. Is it bigger? Do you think it would work for Macey? She is 8 months?
